bizzarre new FB event editing limitation: "Some fields can no longer be edited since this event is in the past. Try creating a new event."
#
tantek
cannot edit event name, location, start time, end time! which is a bit nuts.
#
tantek
I mean what if I wanted to update it to accurately reflect that an event went longer than expected?
#
tantek
I would expect to be able to edit such details at least 24h "after" an event
#
tantek
I think I know why they did this, I've seen (public though) events where the promoter just keeps updating the photo/title/date to the next version of the event
#
tantek
so if you go to one instance of such an event, then all of a sudden it looks like your'e going to the next instance once the organizer updates the details and repurposes the event post for the next instance
#
tantek
still a bit weird

i actually think my micropub endpoint doesn't support multi-photo posts so that's gonna require some more changes

now that I'm using micropub more for notes, I keep coming back to wanting to separate them from articles with more than a category. Jekyll supports collections, kind of like a post type. Any reason I wouldn't want to do that from an IndieWeb perspective?
#
aaronpk
i still would recommend staying away from post type specific stuff
#
aaronpk
have you seen how i handle separating my notes and articles?
#
miklb
I haven't looked at examples recently
#
aaronpk
hm i don't have a description of it on the wiki
#
aaronpk
i have what I call "channels" on my site, which are a top-level path like https://aaronparecki.com/articles and https://aaronparecki.com/notes, and any kind of post can be put into any kind of channel
#
aaronpk
i have some rules that automatically put certain kinds of posts in one or more channels, but i can always override it too
#
miklb
do you have other channels? or just those 2?
#
aaronpk
yes quite a few
#
aaronpk
some are linked in my footer
#
miklb
I see now. I think my problem will be that the micropub endpoint I'm using, it wouldn't support multiple categories, i.e. channels
#
miklb
I'm remiss to modify it too much from what voxpelli is building

miklb: Multiple categories would be doable :) Add it as a feature request and I'll look at it when I make them configurable

voxpelli will do. add to format-microformat or…

as of now anyone can anonymously log into indieauth-enabled sites by using https://commentpara.de/ as user identifier
KevinMarks__ joined the channel
#

cweiske: wait! what!
#
KartikPrabhu
or sorry about the anonymous indieauth log in
#
KartikPrabhu
is that supposed to be a bug in indieauth?
#
aaronpk
it's an auth server that doesn't require you sign up for an account
#
KartikPrabhu
hmmm weird
#
cweiske
KartikPrabhu, but it's new that you can input the domain name only, and be authenticated with a different URL path
#
cweiske
e.g. input https://commentpara.de/ for login and then be authenticated as https://commentpara.de/user/3.htm
#
KartikPrabhu
interesting
#
cweiske
useful for multi-user sites
#
KartikPrabhu
is there an indieauth way to block such anonymous logins?
#
cweiske
block commentpara.de
#
cweiske
KartikPrabhu, I'm just building a comment feature on top of this
#
KartikPrabhu
cweiske: yes, i understand the use-case, but not everyone using indieauth might want to allow anonymous logins
#
cweiske
still very early, but it works with quill and probably other MP clients
#
cweiske
KartikPrabhu, then you have to block the domain
#
cweiske
and all other domains that might spring up using the same software
#
cweiske
or similar
#
KartikPrabhu
i see. yeah the all pother domains is the weird part
#
aaronpk
it's not really "anonymous", it's more like everyone sharing a password
#
KartikPrabhu
yeah, which is strange
#
cweiske
but the auth endpoint also creates new user urls automatically
#
cweiske
if you give a dummy name
#
cweiske
btw, the openid community discussed the anonymous auth problem in 2007/2008 when someone did the same as I did here for indieauth
#
cweiske
the dummy openid provider http://www.jkg.in/openid/ is down now, though
