I guess I'm now using IndieAuth to sign in with OpenID. (Google's OpenID provider has gone away.)

There's a lot of intersection between this and #indieweb, as well as some with @indie, and things like code for america and code for europe.

@benward
@kevinmarks Hmm. I kinda think that caching volatile images like that is the client's job, rather than Twitter's to store them indefinitely.

I realised that switchable avatar images are a good thing -not just for beard and glasses changes

but potentially for reaction faces

Webmention question: Alice posts something mentioning Bob's post, sends a Webmention, Bob registers the mention. Later, Alice decides to give her post a new URL
#
hmans
I realize Bob could theoretically do a HEAD to the old URL to see the 301 and then register the new URL, but something would need to trigger exactly that.
#
hmans
I don't think it makes sense for a site to occasionally HEAD all its registered webmentions to see if their URLs have updated.
#
KevinMarks_
could Alice resend the webmention for the old url, so bob would see the redirect and update?
#
hmans
Yes, that would work, but I'm assuming that I can't ask Alice to do this.
#
hmans
Does h-entry include something like a potentially optional GUID? If so, Bob could recognize the GUID as already known and then do a HEAD-check for the old URL. (
#
hmans
u-uid! Right.
#
hmans
Well, that is good enough for what I'm doing (resuming work on Pants)

doing a quick spot check, it doesn't look like people send ETag headers with their homepages

which means I think I am going to deprioritize it for my feed reader

I didn't think those were actually replies. I thought Twitter was just doing some magic

nah you definitely have to write it as a reply to the previous tweet

Interesting. So when I click reply on my own tweet it pops up with an @gRegorLove as expected. Are you saying Twitter will hide that when it displays the tweet? Or I can safely remove it and it still shows up in-reply-to?
