jonnaybarnes: svg is pretty good for animations. The point of the previous question was that transition animation for page changing is pretty much overkill IMO. Also, making the web feel like apps is misguided

jonnybarnes: invite sent...
#
bret
elliottucker, i run a static site and am very close to getting posse working
#
jonnybarnes
elliottucker: thanks, will get it setup later this evening
#
bret
the strategy that I found most effective for static sites is writing separate program that runs along side wherever your static site is hosted that can create and update posts on the static site
#
bret
This can act as an entry point for creating posts to the static site, while at the same time hadndling things like POSSE
#
bret
its a little extra infrastructure around your site, but once your site is regenerated, everything is static and maintainence is only possibly required next time you want to regenrate
#
kylewm
bret: how do you send webmentions?
#
bret
kylewm when creating a new post, i am planning on throwing a task into the queue that will process the post content for links and then send webmentions
#
kylewm
elliottucker: take a look at https://willnorris.com/2014/08/sending-webmentions-golang, command line application for sending webmentions from a static site
#
bret
same with twitter posse
#
bret
kylewm webmentions I have sent have all been manual
#
kylewm
bret: cool
#
bret
http://bret.io/pages/outbox.html generates the oneliner needed though
#
bret
right now the last 3 posts dont have a webmention that I wanted to send though
#
bret
so its just the template
#
kylewm
elliottucker: have you seen bridgy publish? https://www.brid.gy/about#publishing
#
bret
oh yeah, that would prob be easiest
#
kylewm
it's possible it will trigger the same "ewww" feelings as IFTTT :)

#
elliottucker
I was also thinking of using the build system in Sublime to do the posting but that add more reliance on my local machine to post, seems clunky.
#
bret
elliottucker I found reliance on local building / tools to eventually get in the way of figuring out how to post from a phone
#
bret
its a nice option to have on the side because it works offline though
#
elliottucker
heh...at the moment my posting from the mobile phone involves ssh :(
#
bret
not fun :(
#
elliottucker
I could publish from a queue directory. Write the post, save to Dropbox dir and have the building fab file (in the case of pelican) running in a cron...
