since I started by importing my stuff from other places and am now doing POSSE to Twitter, I guess I'm a PuPuPuer now.
#
tantek
tommorris - I don't think a batch import counts as "pull" - that's more backfilling.
#
erinjo
:-D Welcome
#
tantek
but if you're regularly polling a silo feed or some such then yeah, you're pulling.
#
tommorris
Hmm. That might be appropriate for Foursquare for people who aren't so enamoured with crazy OpenStreetMap duct-tape schemes.
#
tantek
or IG where there's no API to post to IG
#
tantek
so the best you can (currently) do with IG is to PESOS in your photos from IG to your own site, and then POSSE them out to Flickr, FB, etc. that would be a good example where PuPuPu is the best we can currently do.
#
tommorris
also, Instagram has native apps. mobile photo upload is still at an early stage.
#
tantek
There's no decent HTML5 mobile photo upload web app that I know of (yet).
#
tommorris
iOS 6 is apparently going to let you upload photos on <input type="file" />
#
tommorris
that is, if you already have a photo in your photo library, you'll be able to upload it in Safari

#
tantek
so does Firefox on Android and Chrome on Android (supposedly) in shipping versions, but I have yet to see a decent HTML5 web app that works with <input type="file" accept="image/*">

and there's the Media Capture API which I believe now works in desktop Chrome.
#
tantek
cool - will check back to see what you've written/stubbed in those pages.

tommorris - please review my expansion of the photo upload article and see if it fits with your intent - and please feel free to re-organize accordingly.

tantek: looks good
#
tantek
cool. thanks.

Welcome Phae!
#
Phae
bonjour!
#
tantek
I hope you can join us for IndieWebCampUK 2013: http://indiewebcamp.com/2013/UK
#
Phae
ah, perhaps. can't even bare to think of september already.
#
tantek
you can add yourself as tentative then ;)
#
barnabywalters
didn’t realise we had a tentative section, adds himself…
#
tantek
heck it says "Add yourself below to show interest in participating in IndieWebCampUK 2013: "
#
tantek
"to show interest"
#
Phae
fine, fine
#
Phae
indieauth rejected my github auth
#
tantek
oh dear - does your github not link back to your personal domain?
#
Phae
dunno. thought it did. checking now.
#
tantek
also invites Phae to add herself to http://indiewebcamp.com/IRC-people when she gets her sign-in working.
#
Phae
yep, it does
#
Phae
fberriman.com bounces over to https://github.com/phae but doesn't seem to come back

#
tantek
aaronpk - looks like the github auth might be broken on indieauth
#
tantek
fberriman.com links to github.com/phae which links back to fberriman.com and ye the auth is failing
#
barnabywalters
hey, for some reason the 2012.dconstruct.org redirects to an advent calendar: http://2011.adfont-calendar.com/
#
Phae
shame it doesn't go back for another go, would eventually hit my twitter and work
#
tantek
I know aaronpk has used github in the past to auth in via his domain
#
barnabywalters
Phae: I believe it uses the first relme link it comes across, so you could always move the twitter link further up your source
#
tantek
so I'm not sure what broke there
#
Phae
i could. but that seems like fixing the wrong problem. :)
#
tantek
barnabywalters - it's supposed to fallback to the next link
#
tantek
if one fails
#
barnabywalters
ah, I forgot that

spots a Phae in #indiewebcamp and waves.
#
Phae
hey tom
#
tommorris
checks fberriman.com and spots conference&gender posts. ;-)
#
Phae
oh, i know. you'd have thought i'd have learnt by now.
#
tommorris
I've done social-issues-in-tech posts a few times now and usually end up both regretting it and not giving a fuck.
#
tommorris
only regrets calling Brendan Eich a homophobe because it makes working with Mozillans slightly more interesting.
#
Phae
i've done the full loop in the last fortight.. not care, care a lot, blog, regret blogging, tire, not care again
#
Phae
that's my 2013 contribution to the topic over
#
barnabywalters
Phae: you got it over with early :)
#
Phae
i consider january the month for doing that sort of self-flagellation. opticians, doctors, dentist, write a blog post that'll get you called names...
#
tantek
Phae - I too am getting that sort of thing out of the way. Though I haven't done the blog post kind of thing yet.
#
tantek
(January)
#
tantek
tommorris - hope you saw the new Mozilla community guidelines
#
tommorris
tantek: I haven't, I should probably have a look.
#
tantek
if there's anything there that makes you feel "interesting" about interacting with Mozillans, please feel free to let me know.
#
tantek
it's my hope that you can view your interactions with Mozillans in that context rather than any other context (having to do with any particular individual's behaviors).
#
tommorris
oh, it'll be interesting given some of the drama fires I've had to deal with this week.
#
tantek
oh boy
#
tommorris
nah, my dealings with Mozillans has been awesome. it's just when Wikimedia was working with Mozilla, I had to warn people at WMUK that I had previously attacked Eich over Proposition 8.
#
tommorris
full disclosure of previous drama in order to prevent future drama
#
Phae
that is quite fun

pity it doesn’t load the stylesheets for some reason on my personal site
#
Phae
i just did it to mine, and personally, i think i may take that up as a writing style permanently
#
Phae
clear improvement
#
barnabywalters
I’m not so sure about “I be a actizzle proponent of independent publishin n' identitizzle ballazhip on tha web”, but the rest is brilliant

I might use that for this year’s TLAP day joke
