aaronpk, remember when you were in SF and we discussed making an open source equivalent of Checkie for the IndieWeb? Turns out Checkie itself is on github!
#
tantek
tommorris, in case you were looking for a UI shell for you OSM check-ins app, might be a good place to start.
#
tommorris
indeed, was just about to say
#
tantek
additionally, it could POSSE out to Foursquare for you with the code already built into it
#
aaronpk
tantek: yeah! I noticed that later!! super excited
#
aaronpk
also thx for the birthday wishes!
#
aaronpk
i've been thinking about that more and more, I really like the idea of extremely small and very focused use case apps that can create content on my site
#
aaronpk
Checkie is pretty much exactly what I want a checkin app to do. Then rather than try to expand this app to include things like posting photos or text, I'd rather just have separate apps for those.
#
Loqi
gives aaronpk a checkin app to do
#
tantek
aaronpk, perhaps you could even combine that with some of the sms stuff you coded in the past and reimplement Dodgeball's awesome "@venue" and "@venue !message" microsyntaxes for indieweb checkins ;)
#
aaronpk
is a fan of command line syntaxes
#
tommorris
has been ridiculously less productive as a result of yubnub.org being down.

tantek: you seen this? https://raymii.org/s/software/Nopriv.py.html - backup email to HTML.
#
tommorris
HTML+JS = the new backup format. ;-)

@spampk
don't mind me, just testing twitter search for indiewebcamp
#
aaronpk
woo now it's instant
#
barnabywalters
hah, spampk ;)
#
aaronpk
a very useful account
#
barnabywalters
I should make a spam account and set my syndicator to use that if I tag my posts with 'test'

edited /posts (+884) "add subsections, pieces of a post, post design, article link"

#
tantek
tommorris - that's pretty awesome
#
tantek
aaronpk - how about just testpk? or is that taken by folks testing for telekinesis?
#
tantek
p.s. found a place to put your post about not displaying relative dates - on the "post" page on indiewebcamp.com :)
#
aaronpk
oh nice!
#
tantek
I figure we should use the wiki to somehow organize our collective (even if incomplete) indieweb wisdom
#
aaronpk
agreed
#
barnabywalters
evening tantek
#
barnabywalters
on a similar note, any ideas on where would be a good place to put links to things like my blogging policy?
#
barnabywalters
on any ideas on where would be a good place to
#
tantek
(sorry @testpk is taken apparently, I guess, as is @testtk)
#
barnabywalters
covers such things as relative dates, syndication, etc
#
tantek
barnabywalters - does that mean *your* policy, or the policy that others should respect when blogging your articles? it's ambiguous
#
aaronpk
i would have expected the latter
#
tantek
me too
#
tantek
but it's clearly a personal policy page
#
barnabywalters
the summary states "guidelines I follow when publishing on the web", so it’s just the title which is ambiguous
#
tantek
which I'd expect more someplace like blogging-practices
#
tantek
"policy" makes me think of TOS
#
aaronpk
yea, or like it's an external party giving these rules
#
barnabywalters
well, "privacy policy" is typically "things we do RE privacy"
#
tantek
sort of - more like, things you agree we may do with your data RE privacy
#
tommorris
you will respect my authoritah, bloggers
#
tantek
always written from the end-user / reader's perspective, not the publishers
#
barnabywalters

tommorris - and that's why "geo" is a horrible field name
#
tantek
and a fundamental flaw of GeoRSS (not sure if anyone remembers that)
#
tantek
the "posted from" is rarer than "posted about" (i.e. photos) so I tend to lean toward plain "location" meaning "about" rather than "from".
#
tommorris
hmm. Loqi seems to have not picked up my edit to [[posts]]
#
aaronpk
tommorris: I see it up there, unless there was another one

it did - I saw it

barnabywalters
is anyone here friendly with any mac text editor developers?
#
tantek
on pretty good terms with BBEdit developer(s)
#
barnabywalters
do you think they’d be up for making an experimental URI scheme interface for entering text into the current document?
#
barnabywalters
I’m thinking if such a thing existed, it could be used as a web action delegate
#
barnabywalters
for creating quotations and citations of webpages
#
tantek
BBEdit has a bunch of APIs for that sort of thing already IIRC
#
tantek
might want to check out (google for) their dev stuffs
#
tantek
they have a free trial version too
#
barnabywalters
I can’t find any actual docs, but it looks like txmt://open?file=URL exists, if not a way to insert text
#
tantek
barnabywalters - also, you can prototype something like that with a bookmarklet/favelet to generate a citation/quotation for a web page with JS prompt() for easy copy/pasting.
#
tantek
for an example use of prompt() see my JSeval favelet here: http://favelets.com/
#
barnabywalters
that revision history markup is nice. I should probably use a table for mine, it’s looking a bit rubbish on small screens now
#
tantek
of course, allow me to suggest you use the proposed h-cite microformat in your citation markup, and perhaps mimic the existing citation styling: http://microformats.org/wiki/h-cite

of course :) I’m currently wondering how a browser extension with ben ward’s µf parser in might allow for dumping of tabs into a textarea as h-cites
